Whether it is on traditional linear services or online, broadcasters are committed to providing this critical content because of the importance of trusted and diverse news voices to our democracy.
But make no mistake: Canadian news businesses face severe financial challenges. Broadcasters lose millions of dollars annually providing news. At the same time, foreign web giants are benefiting financially from using this content, amplifying the difficulties facing the industry.
